Sailing South on a Chinese Junk

Planning on departing from Oakland on Halloween carrying humanitarian aid to Nicaragua. Three months remain until departure and there is still much work to do.

Re: Sailing South on a Chinese Junk

Good for you bringing humanitarian aid. I see million dollar powerboats in our marina that people never use and think ... they would do better to give that money to charity.
Do you have any more info?
What type of aid?
Photos of boat?
Are you looking for crew? Skipper? How many?
Do you pay expenses? Expect others to "chip in"? Amounts?

Best Regards,
NatKat

Sounds very interesting. The details the previous poster inquired about would be nice to have.

Trying to figure out how to say I love Chinese Junks without sounding weird.... yea.

Can chuán be used instead?

Re: Sailing South on a Chinese Junk

Thank you for your interest. I'm working with an organization called green seas. We will be carrying medical and midwifery kits to the rural, impoverished east coast of Nicaragua. I am the captain but I will be looking for crew. I have two people in mind but could use another. I would expect everyone to contribute what they can. The name of the ship is "Say Lon." She was built in Hong Kong in 1966 mostly out of teak, copper riveted. She has two cabins, three masts and a four cylinder diesel engine.

Hi Shing,

Sounds like an adventure. When and where are you departing from?

Cheers,

It certainly will be! Planning on departing from Oakland, CA on Halloween. All depends on whether the ship is ready to sail.
