Sailing Athens to Ionion via Peloponnes in August

Hi

Sudden unavailability of the Admiral has me looking for up to 2 crew to help me sail my catamaran from Athens to the Ionion in August.

Shes a performance 42 foot cat but we are in no rush and will stop to smell the roses, day sailing only. Share costs, own travel arrangements. Some sailing experience preferred but not essential if you have an easy going attitude and dont get sea sick.

PM me if interested

Cheers
John/ Barra

Are you on crack?

closer to 400 actually not including the tacks. Not delivery as i said we will check out the gulfs.

Heikell and Jim B both reckon you should do 2 to 3 weeks on this length of coast to do it justice...

It must be the crack making me think that you were going through the Corinth Canal. Even so. Or maybe the phrasing "Athens to Ionion" was so grossly distorted by the coke I've been snorting. But who wants a cokehead who shoots up daily helming a boat?

When in August are you planning on setting off, and where in the Ionian are you expecting to end the cruise and when?

I am interested in coming along if you would like me to join you.

I have done 4 weeks in the Saronic /Argolic gulfs, plus two trips from the Saronic to the Ionian (via the canal), and one from the Ionian to Poros (again via the canal) so no knowledge of the Western Peloponnes.

I also have spent a lot of time in the Ionian over the years and have already booked up for another Ionian cruise for two weeks in October.

I have a Yachtmaster Coastal ticket and 12,000 miles under my belt (about 7,000 of those in the Mediterranean) but all on mono-hulls, so would love to add some multi-hull experience to my log.

I retired a few years ago so my time is my own these days!

We sailed the reverse trip 2 yeas ago. The Peleponese is great, lots to see and lots of space to anchor! Completely free of charters! I will look up all the anchorages and get back to you. It should be downwind sail till Methoni then you will be into the wind up the Ionion. Love the Ionion. Definitely going back.

Re: Sailing Athens to Ionion via Peloponnes in August

Thanks Smourt that would be great. Im anchored in Kithnos today with around 30 charter boats on their first stop out of Athens. Much Shenanigans. The idea of charter free places sounds pretty good right now.

To those that showed interest in this little trip I am being jerked around by my sailmaker so cant lock in a start date or even estimate given we are waiting on cloth apparently. I will update a revised trip when I have more details.

thanks for patience

John
