Hi,
I am an Adelaide based
skipper of a 40ft. Farr yacht
("Farr Out").
I have been sailing for 40 years since I was a teenager mainly in the Gulf waters around Adelaide and the Whitsundays. I have been a
member of the Royal SA Yacht Squadron for the last 12 years and was an active participant in club races such as the annual Adelaide to Port Lincoln blue
water classic. I have owned a succession of yachts over 25 years starting with a Cole 23 trailer-sailer moored at Goolwa (near the Murray mouth) and then a Farr-Binks 30ft. large trailerable and finally my
current Farr 38. I have spent the last 18 months completely refurbishing
Farr Out for this journey and have added additional
safety,
navigation and
live-aboard comforts.
My plans at this stage are to leave Adelaide in January 2015 and sail initially to
Sydney and later
Brisbane and further north. I intend to make the most of
weather opportunities on this trip rather than battle the elements for the sake of a schedule. So I expect there will be times when opportunities to explore local sights will seem more attractive than beating into squalls.
I am particularly interested in crew members who have "blue-
water" sailing experience and few time constraints to join us. I am currently untangling myself from my shore based life and have recently taken up full time residence with my Jack Russell mate on board.
To express interest please reply via a personal message with a brief summary of your sailing experience.
