Crew Available: Retired math teacher is looking for the warm...

waters of where ever. My lovely wife understands that I need to take off for parts unknown ever so often and resignedly gives her nod albeit a perplexed one. I would be available during the spring and summer months and... we'll see.

I have an easy going personality and am interested in EVERYTHING. It doesn't matter the destination as long as it's warm for the most part. This experience would be, for me, a continued weaving in and out of my life's tapestry. I see it is time for more color...

What I can offer is a helping hand and I don't mind getting my hands dirty, well, I don't care for dirty greasy engine stuff but I do know what a 5/16" box wrench is so I would be an excellent gopher. I like things clean so I would generally keep things in order during this planned parley. If you have kids and need tutoring on occasion, I am a teacher (retired) after all and could help in that area as well.

as much as i would love to take on crew who is capable, i do NOT sail with other people's spousal units. is not a wise adventure. sorry.

Seriously, there are a lot of cruisers who home-school their kids. I would think a live-in math tutor might be a hot ticket.

Wasn't sure what Zeehag was driving at. Usually if it's not a right fit there would be no response but I guess it's important that I know it won't work. Anyway the 'men' post seems rather humorous so thanks for your directing me to it.

I second Zeehag's statement. Reversing the gender...If someone's wife wanted to take time out and sail with strangers or with me, I'd be suspicious and not allow it. If it quacks like a duck, it can't be a seagull; probably, a lost albatross. Mauritz

I guess I should state it; my wife would no more go on a boat than land on the moon. I assumed I would be talking to a bunch of guys or maybe a couple with a family and so this would not be an issue. Apparently I'm wrong. I'm not opposed to going with a mixed crew but a guy crew would seem a lot more fun. I call myself the happy curmudgeon and for some reason I can upset women's sensibilities. Not PC enough... What do I know

I like to think I'm a rugged individualist but more often I'm a wuss. Although the idea of Iceland sounds so compelling. From what I've seen it looks so pristine and beautiful.

Sooner or later, you'll find a fun loving crew that you'll enjoy being with. As far as I concerned, I have been on the water practically all of my life. I have done SCUBA diving/boating in over 40 countries; combination of flying, live-aboard and sailing. I stay away from potential trouble, by always looking at the horizon. In the above thread, all I said was I stay away from potential issues that might arise. Remember that the ocean is huge, and you are in a canoe. All you need is one big wave! Mauritz
