If you have a place or know of a place nearby to park the fifth-wheel it would be great.
We hope to learn and then purchase a boat as a live-aboard. We have been living in a 35' fifth-wheel and just recently lived in a small truck camper for over 17,000 miles so we know small living spaces will not be a problem for us.
Thanks for reading and any input would be appreciated.

Why not take a sailing class together? Learn to sail, there are good schools in the San Juans, and Bellingham area, and then
charter their boats enough to get lots of experience in all kinds of conditions.
I would expect that you could keep your RV parked at their place during the
school (live aboard schools would be ideal, I think) and if
renting from them.
That way, you get to learn to sail, you get good instruction, you meet nice people, and you will be well on your way to being liveaboards.
p.s. Winter in Alaska? You must be tough birds to want to winter there when you could be somewhere warm.
