Raiatea,Oahu,San Diego

I know this is a tad early but I thought I'd post this now instead of waiting untill the last minute, plus it gives me a chance to weed out the....
I am doing a delivery from Raiatea,look it up if you don't know where it is, to Kewalo Basin Harbor in Oahu, same thing, look it up, then to Harbor Island West in San Diego. Leaving around the 15th of 01/13. I need 2 crew besides myself. 1 needs to have some passage experience, the other can be of limited experience. Me, I've been running around the Eastern Pacific, 48n to 170w to 10s to 80w, since 1971. How you get there is up to you but for the right person I may be able to pop for a ticket, everything is provided except your shoreside entertainment. On board I take care of everything and you do have as say in the provisioning. Male or female matters nix. However, and pay close attention here, there WILL be NO drugs of any kind on board except what's in the med kit. If I find drugs, I'll drop your ass on the nearest beach and good luck to ya. No exceptions. Google the route, some small places out there. With that out of the way this is not a dry boat, a couple of beers or a drink with dinner is fine as long it is not before your watch. I'll have gorilla tape and wire ties! if I catch you messed up on watch. Sounds like I'm a hard a** but this is a delivery, not a race and not a cruise. My boats arrive at their destination is as good as shape if not better than when we left. Plus safety 1st is at the top of the list. O.K. with all that out of the way and you are still reading this, Das Boat;
2002 Beneateau 393. She has been in storeage on Raiatea for the past 3 or 4 years. The buyer, current owner and myself are having her cleaned, surveyed, and some minor repairs being done as I type. I'll be going down next month with some replacement electronics and supplies and do some work. The buyer will be going down during Thankgiving to cruise around and also will be bringing down some supplies, the we will go down after the 1st of year and bring some more goodies down and bring her to S.D. Even with the over weight fees the airlines charge, it is safer and cheaper to just pay it and have it on hand than ship. Probably spend a week there checking the boat and provisioning then we have to stop at Bora Bora on the way out, I mean it's only 45 miles from Raiatea so.... and the owners are cool with that, plus we can check out there besides. From there north to Oahu to re-provision and affect any repairs plus sleep, I have a slip there and a good mech/rigger if needed, then off to S.D.. This will be winter from Oahu to S.D. so bring warm clothes or have them shipped to Oahu. Details on that later. Figure 18 to 21 days to Oahu and the same to S.D. depending on the high and weather.
If sounds like something you want/can do, either p/m or post here with any questions.
I like to run a clean and simple boat and have fun along the way, eat well and be as safe as possible. Remember, this boat is someone else's baby and we are entrusted to get their baby home safe and sound.

( I have not spell checked or edited this so don't flame me!!)

It is rare to be impressed on this forum. I am truly impressed by the manner and straight forward information presented.
My short resume is listed under"remesnab" on this site. There is the beginning.
Enjoy the day. We may be of similar age. Just opposite sides of the equator. Bottle of champagne there eh.

Regards, Bruce

Thank you for the kind words, I try to be as upfront as possible in all my endevors. I "clicked" on your name and didn't see anything. If you are interested, send me an e-mail at stokesla@earthlink.net with your info and we can go from there. Also for others reading this, you may also join in for just one stage of the trip,Raiatea to Oahu or Oahu to San Diego or the whole thing. Up to you. In re-reading my orginal post, I think I left the impression that this is a non-pay trip, if not it is. However who knows what lurks in the minds of owners that are happy with the delivery!

I am not yet navigating my way easily through this site. Do please let me know if my short resume got through to you. Look forward to further communication. Bruce "remesnab" Hopefully many more questions to folow in both directions.

Re: Raiatea,Oahu,San Diego

good afternoon, my time Ca. My schedule of availability is moving up. From mid-August to two weeks from now. I really am tired of the U.S. I will be going to Panama where I am comfortable with language and culture. I really understand your posting for crew in January. So many people want you to go from Capetown to Rio and leave in three days and pay them $70.00 a day. I am very fortunate to have the skill set I have to relieve myself of the materiel goods. I will fill my time in one manner or another on boats to and fro. The main item is that i am good to my word of being who I am and being where a commitment needs me to be. I converse with you in this manner to have mutual respect for our obligtions and to open this channel of acceptance. You have five months to choose a mate. Through this forum, being fair to both, commitment on both sides is essential. I do wish now for my messages tp be private Let me know how you feel.
Regards, Bruce

Re: Raiatea,Oahu,San Diego

We seem to be seeing more eye to eye in our relationship of what is public. Would you consider going straight to e-mal. Very od how this process works these days. Who has no clue and those that are in 40 knots in a 1/4 oz. chute. I am very quiet around yacht clubs and sailors bars. I have the feeling you may be the same. I, obviously am a little bit more long winded than you. Let me know

As Usual, Bruce

sent you an e-mail, let me know if it didn't go thru as I sent it from here.
I don't hang out too much at the yacht clubs or bars of any type, way too much knowledge there, saner on the docks I feel.

Re: Raiatea,Oahu,San Diego

Being a dock lizard is not nessarily a bad think. Does not have the "Blow hard", inuendos found in the intoxicating environment of the YV's. You may enjoy my being long winded six days to sea. Thanks for the reply. (possibly not, wisdom and peace)
Regards, Bruce Hopefully now we may switch channels to regular e-mail addresses. I have a very strong feeling about my personal privacy.

I lived in Tahiti, Oahu and San Diego I love to go back to those territories again. I am good at sand blasting wood and prep for painting and cleaning engine room. If only I could find the money to fly, i would come over to help you.

Re: Raiatea,Oahu,San Diego

My husband and I would be interested in the leg from Oahu to SD if you end up splitting crew for the trip. We are seasoned sailors out of Washington and are looking for more offshore experience (Nils has some, I do not). We are serious, capable, fit, flexible, and can appreciate your standards. We can pay our own way. Nils is handy with most anything, and although I am a great cook, I can also sail! let us know if you would be interested in our help.
