Putting out the feelers. Aus or NZ heading West after cyclone season 2014

Hi there,

I am a 34 year old Aussie getting ready to complete a personal circumnavigation next year if the right opportunity presents itself. In 2011/2012 I sailed the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean in a 1 year journey home from the UK to Aus on 2 recreational monohulls and a Cat.

After spending what will be over a year on land running 4x4 adventure tours on Fraser Island I will be ready to take to the seas again and ideally want to sail from the East Coast of Aus (or from NZ), across the Indian Ocean to South Africa.

I know I am early but just putting out the feelers for after the cyclone season when all the boats seeing out the season in Aus or NZ start to move again in March/April 2014. If there is a good boat who will be looking for an experienced crew please get in touch and see if we might be a good match. There might be a chance for a catch up in advance or a shake out sail. I am currently living in Noosa north of Brisbane.

A little about me then...

- I suppose I fit the stereotypical Aussie image to some degree.
- I am laid back and easy going but that is not to say I am lazy.
- I love to meet new people and am fairly chatty and love a laugh.
- I love the outdoors and am quite active and adventurous. I'll give just about anything a go. I am well travelled visiting over 70 countries to date.
- I love to snorkel, free dive, and scuba dive but my even bigger passion is fishing. I can catch, fillet, and cook good seafood. I bagged loads of Mahi Mahi, Tuna and even a few Marlin on my passages so far and can get good fish at anchor.
- I take pride in my cooking and make sure I pull my weight with the onboard chores.
- I was even a part time English and Maths tutor on the Atlantic crew position
- I don't smoke or do drugs. I don't mind the odd rum (or cold beer) as the name might suggest but I don't mind dry boats at sea either.

On the sailing side of things...

I have completed the British RYA Dayskipper qualifications and have cut my teeth with a bit of dinghy sailing as well. I have my Padi licence, first aid training and a recreational shipmasters licence from back in Aus. Now I have over 16000Nm of offshore experience. I still don't claim to be an expert sailor and I still soak up all the learning opportunities I can. But I would consider myself a solid competent crew member to have on board. I can do my solo night watches with minimum fuss and would be happy to have you get in touch with my previous skippers.

If you think I might fit in with your crew and plans, I would love to hear from you. Get back to me on here or email troywalton66 at yahoo dot com dot au

Cheers

Just bumping this up as it is getting a little closer. Still all set for new adventures come about April time. My time and location are very flexible for joining the next journey.

Cheers
