Pacific Coast Guatemala to the Panama Canal, 50ft Tayana FD-12 Departs ASAP!!

Pacific Coast Guatemala to the Panama Canal, 50ft Tayana FD-12 Departs ASAP!!

You must be available to arrive here to Guatemala sometime between now and April 25th, preference will be given to individuals that can arrive sooner so you might want to check flight availability before contacting me.

This is an opportunity to make a 1000NM offshore passage on a very comfortable sailboat and to possibly transit the Panama Canal without making any financial contributions for the passage. You must be able to arrive in Guatemala within a day or two of April 23rd, the sooner the better. I will consider candidates with any level of experience as we already have 2 very experienced crew who have just completed a 1000+nm passage on the same boat plus a skipper who has extensive sailing experience including recently completing a solo world-circumnavigation.

This is a delivery rather than a pleasure cruise and an opportunity to learn from experienced sailors who are happy to teach in exchange for your help with watches, cooking, cleaning and general maintenance of the boat.

This is a Volunteer position and is NOT a "shared expense trip". Your only expense will be getting yourself to (Guatemala) and from (Panama) the boat. I will pay for on board food, customs, and immigration fees associated with the passage. This is not a paid position.

This passage is aboard a very well equipped 1981 50 foot Tayana FD-12, The current intent is to sail non-stop offshore down the coast from Guatemala to panama City with possibly an opportunity to transit the Panama Canal as well. Guatemala to Panama is about 1000 Nautical miles and will probably take about two weeks but could be much shorter if we have favorable weather. If you are invited to remain on board to transit the canal it would be about one more week.

This particular Tayana comes well equipped for offshore sailing with spares, tools, Autopilot, Windvane, Radar, Digital navigation equipment, Solar, wind, and diesel generators, water maker, refrigeration, and a skipper who has sailed across every ocean.

If you are available for this passage it is important that you EMAIL me at KirkALittle at Hot Mail dot com and be sure to include your phone number(s). I will not be able to check replies sent on or through this message board.

We are currently postitioned at;

- Latitude: 13° 55´ North
- Longitude: 90° 47´West

Marina Pez Vela, located in Puerto Quetzal Guatemala (Pacific Coast) 60 miles from the Guatemala International Airport by a 4 lane highway on km 112, just before Puerto (Port) San Jose.

I'm eager to get underway and have a seasoned crew already on board so early/fast responders will be given first consideration, regardless of your experience.

You originally posted in Feb 2014 for a crew for this same boat from La Paz Mexico to the Panama Canal. What happened to that crew?

I'm not sure why people post replies on this forum without reading the actual message. As stated in the post, we still have the original crew on board. We stopped for fuel and will be coastal from this point on so were looking for an additional member. We have someone with a flight booked so for now it seems the position is filled.
