Hi there, I'm a collage student just looking for sailing experiences. Currently I have none I'm a quick learner and already know many of the sailing terms. Please let me know if you live by Newport Beach area and just want an extra pair of hands.

I should be more clear, I'm looking for a day sailor in Newport willing to take on a novice on short weekend trips.

My advice is to go to the local sailing clubs. Almost always you can find a member seeking a crew (as an extra set of hands) for day sailing.
