Opportunity or challenge...you decide!

My family got the sailing bug about 4 years ago and we need some help. Here is what we are looking for, the opportunity for the three of us, Me (44), Wife (46) and Daughter (11 1/2), to sail around the Caribbean with you on your boat for 30-60 days. Quit laughing and keep reading please

We are ASA 101 & 103 certified, but don't have a lot of experience. We are a fun, professional family, we own a marketing company (Fat Atom Marketing) and our daughter is homeschooled (no, we are not the weird type of homeschooling parents) and we have "the dream" of buying a boat and "getting out there."

Lastly, we aren't looking for a free ride, just the right opportunity. So, if you are a seasoned sailor, preferably a woman or sailing couple, have a boat, big enough for all of us, have patience and like to teach, and would like to make some extra money, we would love the chance to continue this conversation.

Re: Opportunity or challenge...you decide!

Where do you sail in the summer? Nice boat btw. What does a 30 day lease look like?

Best,

Todd

Re: Opportunity or challenge...you decide!

The boat is currently in Maine but my other boat is kept in North Carolina for the summer because it is gorgeous and this is as far south as you can go for Hurricane insurance (In the summer). It is tough to only lease for 30 days (unless every year) as it cost me $2000 to hand you the boat and to take it back, it does makes sense for a three month cruise and would run $6 to $9k. To lease the boat I have to spend $18k in upgrades so I don't end up with money in my pocket but I do get new cushions, new engine, new autopilot, new oven, new head and new tramps. I don't have to have all these things but would require them to assure a high level of safety. I can only lease her twice a year as I don't want to run a business but want my boat to be used and maintained. Of course 6 months or a year is even better.
