Looking Seaward Again

A little about me: I served four yrs. in the U.S. Coast Guard, where I did everything from take care of lighthouses to crew on motor lifeboats. Later I worked as a crewman / naturalist on excursion boats over in Hawaii, taking people of whale watches, snorkeling, etc. Then I worked on a cruise ship, also over in Hawaii, as on-board naturalist.

This year, working as a line handler, I made my first transit of the Panama Canal. Very exciting. Anyone interested, here's a link to my blog, with pics and commentary of the event: RovingMind

For more about me, including a photograph, click on my profile. I'm the Easy Does It type, like to look a bit before I leap, but will get it done.

Thanks for reading this and look forward to hearing from some of you.

Re: Looking Seaward Again

Well, have crossed the line a few times, but never have been brought before the King and his court, so I'll have to say still a Polly.

Having read about all your travels, I'd say you are close enough that I 'd respect you as a Shellback.
I have "fond memories " and scared knees from crawling on a flight deck back in 68' on the Hornet. Payback was again in 69'. Dan Rather of ABC and Dallas Townsend went through the initiation also. They roughed through it all with smiles.

I'm not so sure that you are a slimy wog. You crossed the line without incurring Neptune's wrath, so he obviously considers you a Trusty Shellback.
