Welcome aboard Georgina! The first step in international travel is to apply for a passport then once you receive it, guard it with your life. Buy a recent guide book about Australia, such as "Fodor's Australia"; it will serve you well, once you are there. Crewing on a boat is a risky business; I would not do it. If you still want the adventure, make sure your friends and relatives keep in touch with you on a regular basis. Good luck!

Hi Mauritz, thanks for the advice. I already have a passport and my visa sorted. I'm a British citizen but ill have a look at the guide book..thank you.
I thought I'd look into crewing as I have experience in it. Though I'm sure any job will be great to start off with I have other skills aswell. Cheers!

Re: Looking for Work

You're highly unlikely to get paid work through this forum - most crew slots are in return for expenses. If you want paid work, there are many agencies out there - just Google them!

Now then, if you decide to just crew for folks, be aware you'll be living in a confined space with these people, with no escape. Be sure to check their references in the hope you'll discover they are trustworthy; and be sure to spend time first to be sure you like their company!

Thanks a lot for your advice I didn't think I would get paid work on this forum but I'd thought I'd give it a shot, appreciative of what you've told me!
Cheers!
