Funny stuff Laser! And exactly what some captains/owners offer!

The difference I see is that I wouldn't consider re-wiring a house to be my idea of an exciting time. But spending some time on a sailboat with a professional skipper? That could be fun AND an education.

You pay your money and take your chances.

I have crewed for free when others on the crew were paid. I learned a ton and it was well worth it to me.

Who knows there could be other paid professionals and they are filling out the watch list and making room for a couple of newbies to log legitimate ocean time.

How about the cruiser who takes aboard a "hitchiker" and charges for food. Who is benefitting and taking advantage of the other? None of my business....
