Long weekend delivery Jacksonville to Miami
Looking at closing a deal on a boat this weekend and plan to move the boat back to Miami next weekend over the holiday. 330 miles down the coast plan is for a 50-60 hour trip dock to dock.Boat is a 43 ft older sailing vessel that is being survey tomorrow . Crew of 2 30 something guys, no drinking or smoking under way. Non paid gig but I'm buying food expenses and would consider helping with travel expenses.
Would love to have to a 3rd set of hands for the trip.

Re: Long weekend delivery Jacksonville to Miami
Hello b-Rad
My name is George
Im 58yrs decent shape.
Been sailing for about a decade but never done any navigation persay.
just lots of island hopping and regattas here in the Boston Harbor and further north.
What type of boat is this 43ft ... ?
Will it be mostly motor sailing ?
My main interest in this would be to learn a bit of navigation along the way

Re: Long weekend delivery Jacksonville to Miami
Hey George, the boat is full displacement full keel cruiser. Hopefully will be a nice broad reach sail but it is a delivery and on a timeline so no breeze means motoring. Trip is going to be close to 400 miles straight down the coast inside the Gulfstream current, not alot of fancy navigation on the route. Waiting on tons of paperwork on the boat now, looks like maybe next weekend.

Re: Long weekend delivery Jacksonville to Miami
B-Rad: I could do that run. I have much experience with that route (and ICW, Bahamas) and have been through several of those inlets in the dark. Not much of a cook but very adept at navigation sailing and maintenance. I live in Jax, if you could get me back there from Miami that would be great.
Write me, Regards

Wow that was nice to say.
Actually his best move is to get south of Jax.

Re: Long weekend delivery Jacksonville to Miami
Hey Skipper, My name is Mike and I live south of you on Merritt Island. The weather probably wont be doable. But for another weekend I would be able to assist. I am an active 59 with decades of sailing experience on Chesapeake and now the Indian River, local sailing off Cape Canaveral. I have extended weekends so that works also (alas, still working). If you are still looking for help, I would be interested. I haven't used this forum before but, hey, you gotta start somewhere. 3-two-1-five-4-tree-8one-four-4.

Re: Long weekend delivery Jacksonville to Miami
Guys looks like the boat is going to be officially mine late next week...paperwork and banks ruin everything. The weather this weekend looks like no fun anyway. Hopefully have a plan in place next weekend for the delivery. I'm covering food and such and could probably make arrangements for travel as well. I would be happy to take 2 additional bodies for the trip, makes easier watches and much nicer for a boat without a working autopilot. I'll let everyone know ..

The plan is to leave greencove springs for Jacksonville saturday the 10th at sun rise. After Jackson ville it's a right turn and 275 miles to miami. I am planning on docking in miami around noon on monday. If anyone is intrested in taking the trip lmk, I'm going to try to lock down crew this week.

Re: Long weekend delivery Jacksonville to Miami
Hello b-rad, Mike here. Sorry, the weekend of the 10th would not work for me. Otherwise I would be very happy to assist if you still need the help. Keep me in mind should things change.

Hello b-rad. Are you good on crew?, leaving the 10th? I have just joined CF, not a sailor but at home in the ocean. Looking to learn.
