Crew Available: Inexperienced Boat Seeker US to NZ Fall 2016

Looking to experience the boat life. Looking to be available to crew next fall. I don't have any sailing experience but I'm fit and motovated. I work as a wildland firefighter in the summer so I know how to work and live with the same folks for a long period of time. Also have hiked solo across the US twice so I have experience of doing prolonged trips am easy to get along with and pretty laid back. I don't have any tobacco or drug habits and am a light social drinker.

Tip: Most people who sail from the US to New Zealand start their journey in the late Spring (Mar/Apr). They usually arrive in NZ in November or so.

You might check into the Baja Ha-Ha. The sailing rag "Latitude 38" has a crew list and get together for this event. Some of the participants then go on out into the South Pacific in about March, iirc. Not sure if it fits your time frame.

Do be selective in your choice of skipper. It's not just living with people that can cause problems: there can be an alcohol or other mental problem, and you need to avoid that. What to look for is inconsistency, "flakiness", irrationality.
