Crew Available: Hello Everyone !

Hi, I honestly don't have anything to offer really as a crew member but I am 18 and am very very interested in sailing and am willing (and very much wanting) to learn how to maintain and operate a sailboat. I'm in the process of saving up for my own boat so I want to learn how to use it before I spend the money. I've always wanted to sail and be on the ocean but I'm stuck at the moment in the center of the U.S. Surrounded by cornfields, If anyone could offer any tips and/or help that would be deeply appreciated. But if you must criticize me please be at least a little constructive. Thanks
