Unhappy Re: have a great boat need experienced man

I knew a guy in Galveston in the 70s who had an older wooden Swan-type 50 footer. Beautiful boat. He offered passage to the Yucatan in exchange for voyage preparation work. The kids would come aboard, work their butts off, but there was always more to do. Disillusioned, ripped off, and bummed out, they'd eventually go back home. Then a couple more showed up ...

Beware the jabberwock.

Re: have a great boat need experienced man

good luck finding the kind of experienced man you seek....there are many experienced men out here, i have found---rare is the bird who knows boats, sailing, and isnt an escapee of some prison or another... goood luck in your search.

You mean us prison escapees and ex-cons are not suitable sailors?

Re: have a great boat need experienced man

I think before you head off into the North Atlantic with your new boat you should first assess it's capability and durability before looking for a male captain to share journey. You already hinted that your boat has blisters bleeding rust. In my opinion this is not good sign and indicates that the internal mesh or rebar has been compromised with water intrusion. I appreciate your desire and dream to head off to Hebrides, but please do it in a safe vessel if at all possible. Just because Andiamo has made to Bahamas an other islands in past does not mean she is ready for same or the harsher climate of Northern Atlantic.
Big difference between living on a boat at dock and heading out into Northern Atlantic in it.
