Gold Coast to Cairns leaving this week.

47 foot yacht sailing from Gold Coast to Cairns needs crew to make the trip safer and more enjoyable. Planning to leave Gold Coast by May 31 and take a few weeks stopping at beautiful islands and reefs on the way up the coast for snorkelling, fishing, surfing, kayaking, beachcombing depending on weather. You would need to share costs for food, fuel, and marina fees. After Cairns the boat will head to Darwin and then probably Malaysia.

Crew don't need to know how to sail but will need to be able to follow instructions in English, be reliable, be on watch while the captain sleeps, be easy to get along with, not get seasick, and not smoke, drink alcohol, or consume any illegal drugs while onboard. To save batteries and fresh water we won't be using the refrigerator or shower, so expect fresh fruit and vegetables and some tinned food, and being a bit salty. The boat does not have a life raft or tender, but does have a 3 person sit-on-top kayak for exploring, along with life jackets, new EPIRB, and VHF radios to call for help in case of emergency.

I am a 42 year old Australian male who has been travelling for 20 years and bought the yacht in Sydney 6 months ago to try out cruising. The last 6 months have been spent sailing from Sydney to the Gold Coast and doing maintenance on the boat, rigging, engine, and electronics to get it ready to go.

If you are the kind of person who can't function without double shot decaf soy lattes, air conditioning, cable TV, and 30 minute showers this trip is not for you, but if you like adventures and exploring and boats send me an email at china.dolphin@yahoo.com and let me know a bit about yourself.
