From Fiji to ???

Hi everyone,

We are a french couple wanting to crew from Fiji in April 2015. Our only aim is to reach Indonesia before June, so we are considering anything that could get us closer!
We both have sea experience but no skipping qualification. We speak english, spanish, french, and a bit of german.

Looking forward hearing from you!

Thomas & Maïa

Re: From Fiji to ???

Hi Thomas and Maia, our boat is in Fiji and we'll be sailing to Vanuatu late April, start of May where we work annually on conservation projects. We're looking for crew for the passage and if folks are interested in conservation projects, can stay on for a bit in Vanuatu.

Hey Guys!
Thanks for your answer! We were hoping to leave Fiji just a bit sooner, but we are still interested! Vanuatu is getting us closer to Bali, which is good!
Do you think we will have the same chances to catch a boat going to Indo from there?

Cheers!

Re: From Fiji to ???

Hi,
If you are in Fiji now, you may have a sense of the tradewind season and boats. In our experience, many of the boats crossing the Pacific won't come by Fiji until much later in the season. We have met some folks coming up early in the season from NZ to either Fiji or Vanuatu and then heading west, but can't really speak to the numbers. If you can't find passage, will you make alternate plans? The sail to Vanuatu is about 4 days. At this point, there will be 3 of us on board (2 adults, one youth). You can email us at bsgfarm@peoplepc.com if you want to explore further and take a look at our videos to see the boat/crew.
cheers,
Janis

Re: From Fiji to ???

There is often a small wave of boats coming though Vanuatu early in the season on the way to joing the Indonesian Rally in Darwin. See if their website offers a crewing service. Early April might be a bit early though, forecasters are predicting a later than normal end to the cyclone season here this year.
