Florida to Chesapeake Bay

April 2012
I am seeking two experienced crew members to sail up the US coast with me from Ft. Pierce, FL, to the Chesapeak Bay, VA, on "Fair Wind," a well equipped, 2005 Hunter 36.

Re: Florida to Chesapeake Bay

Schedule is not yet fixed. My boat was dismasted (rigging failure) coming into George Town, Exumas. It is on route to Stuart, FL for repair. That can take three to five weeks. I am planning around a first week in April departure. Naturally, that can slip if a critical part is delayed. Do you have a schedule?

Re: Florida to Chesapeake Bay

I would be interested. Are you planning for a two week schedule? Following the ICW 100% of the route?

I'm trying to build time for sailing resume.

thanks
David

Re: Florida to Chesapeake Bay

Weather permitting, my plan is to sail off shore. Five to ten days.

Re: Florida to Chesapeake Bay

I would love to go to gain experience however I don't have offshore experience. The closest I would have is Tortola to Anegada, LOL. Do you think that a 3 crew situation (4 total) would work on the 36? Just thinking that if you were uncomfortable with my experience level and required two crew with offshore experience I would still love to help and I would be expense free. My schedule is very flexible and I can travel to most points on the Atlantic seaboard for free since I'm in sales and travel extensively.

Would be glad to take care of cooking and chores just for the experience.

thanks
David

Re: Florida to Chesapeake Bay

Hello-
I am an experienced sailor, former instructor, work in finance in Charlotte and looking for the opportunity to get in a 5-14 day sail when possible. I have delivered offshore out from Chesapeake to and have experience with the NC-MD section of the ICW. My last sail was in the Meditteranean last October. I'm just looking for an enjoyable sail up from Florida for fun.
-EMC
I have relevant US Sailing Instructor and ASA docs etc. also, and references.
