Florida Crew/Owners Wanted!

I posted a crew available post
I even have a option to purchase
A h28.

I've inquired about a Swan 44..

The Swan needs a Crew. Here is what I'm looking for:
And the main reason I'm posting in Crew..

10 people willing to travel for two+ years.
Focusing on remote islands around the world.

10 people that are willing to work to make this happen, starting Now

10 people that are able, without restraint, to relocate to S.Florida. Work and live 1 year starting Nov 1st.
This time will be used saving money, preparations for trip

If you ever wanted to be a boat owner
Travel the world without restraints, without time limits
And have the drive to make it happen now,
This is for you

If your seeking a free ride, prob. Not..

Email me direct for info. Dinner party/meeting planned for the first week of Nov. In S. Fl.

More details avail.

This is not a paid crew position
This is not pay me X-amount a month to cruise

This is a group plan, to own a sailboat, work for a dream, then set off and live it.

I have the ground work setup, need 9 others! I make the 10th

Everything is done on a equal basis, ownership, living expenses, etc.

stay clean today at Gmxxx com

Re: Florida Crew/Owners Wanted!

What follow is written in a friendly tone of voice with the sole intent to help a sailor.

Good luck on your adventure project. every adventure begins with a dream.

Others have posted something similar before on CF, usually boatless people with an idea to make a YouTube channel or video and looking for crew to buy the boat for or with them.

Your post is not clear on the anticipated costs to each person and who will own the boat etc. my friendly suggestion is to make the proposal more detailed and base on realistic numbers and timing.

In addition, a long term project takes management skills. It seems to me that posting that (your experience and ability to manage this project) with qualifications, previous experience, and such would help others get a better sense of the possibility of success.

You mention a Hunter 28. That is probably not going to be attractive to serious sailors who want to travel far, nor is it likely to be safe or fun with a crew of 10 aboard.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply.

I'm putting the numbers together now.
I'll post them later this eve.

The h28 is not a Hunter

Herreshoff 28

If I purchase the h28, it's a private cash deal,
No group involved.

I prefer the Swan 44!

We shall gauge interest.

My email is included, for interested
People.

Here is a h28 photo. I could do worse, if I decide to buy her! It's a h28, not the boat I'm contemplating

Re: Florida Crew/Owners Wanted!

There's an H28 at my marina in St. Petersburg, such a beautiful boat. Getting 10 people together to own a boat sounds all well and good in dream form- but owning a boat with 10 different people is going to be tough, no doubt. All I can think of is a lot of clashing ideas. But best of luck to you!

Curious, any photos of the Swan?

Not at this time, deal is still in the works. A good deal!

Serious inquires will get all details. Negative nay' say'ers
with a glass half empty mentality can watch how a group
can own a nice Swan, upgrade it, and sail it around the world. As a team..

If there are 9 people left that can make 2k a month, in S. Florida...for one year. The deal happens..
2k a month..peanuts..

Thanks for the post

Re: Florida Crew/Owners Wanted!

I knew a bunch of people who did the same thing once in Europe.

It lasted 10 weeks. Then they got into petty arguments that towered up to a huge cluster*beep* of hostility and accusations. Who's the captain. Who makes the decisions regarding route planning, safety and social media appearance. People felt left out. Others felt taken advantage of. They had to sell the boat because nobody would back down, and go through a lot of court sessions to get this settled. The court battles took thrice as long as the aborted journey and cost double as much as everybody invested.

I really like the general idea though, and I could imagine being part of something like this, but I would strongly suggest to become really intimate and trusting friends before, and sail a bunch of 1000 miles together on other boats before eventually (financially) committing to such an adventure. Different people have different notions about cleanliness, safety and privacy.

The only successful operations I''ve seen is when one person owns the boat and others contribute.

10 people on a 28ft is madness. Think of the fate of the S/Y Taube in Morocco. (Google it)
10 people on a 44ft is still madness, in my opinion.

Okay, I get your points.

But: You have suggested I'm Looking to do a group buy on a Hunter 28
Then, you suggest I'm trying to cram 10 people on a 28ft boat..

I guess it's obvious to all that read, you don't.
I would appreciate, if your going to share your opinion,
at least read the points.

The boat is a 44ft Swan
It's a race/cruise...leaning more towards race. But enough
work has been done, to make it cruise ready

I didn't suggest that; that was someone else. Do you read the replies on your thread?

I read this in your first introduction / description posting:

Quote:

This is what you wrote. And this doesn't sound like -

Quote:

So, yes, I assumed you'd pack 10 people permanently on a 28/44ft boat to cruise around the world. I'm sorry if I got your intentions wrong.

Edit: Dude, I'm trying to contribute something to your idea. I'm not trying to troll you or mock you. I actually like your idea. But also, I'm trying to give you some input why I personally think your idea has some... inherent, potential flaws that could eff things up pretty quickly and thoroughly.

Re: Florida Crew/Owners Wanted!

I cruse long term on a 41' boat with only 2 people and have crewed a 6 day passage on a swan 48 with 7 others (8 of us total and that was cramped). I really don't see how your going to be able to fit 10 people, all of their gear, and provisions enough for longer passages on a swan 44. Im not trying to be a nay sayer, I just don't understand how you would take the longer passages or cross an ocean with that many people aboard on that small of a boat. I genuinely wish you the best of luck.

Re: Florida Crew/Owners Wanted!

You trolls are blowing up my cell...with your nay sayer crap. If you have no desire to take part, please move on.

The few interested people so far, could care less if you think it wont work...

And we really don't want to hear your bragging about your current boating situation...

Typical socialist liberal garbage.. people thinking their opinion matters so much, the world needs to hear it..

I'll turn off notification...

Who ever wants to:

Own a part of a Swan 44
Travel next year
Have a place to stay rent free! Starting Nov 1
In SOUTH BEACH!!!
And a whole lot of fun!
I have the plan all done...

Email me..direct

If you have a life that allows you to make 2k a month,
This works for you! All that is required....able to make 2k a month..

If you cant....i feel sorry for you..

First off it was a serious suggestion. I'm not a dreamer I'm a full time live aboard cruiser, And if you spent a month or 3 aboard a shared boat of any size with a small group of people you'd have some clue to as the actual wisdom in my post.
Your dreaming if you think 10 will get along for extended periods on any size boat without some kind if intervention.
And what kind of person makes a statement of " if you can't make 2k a month , I feel sorry for you"?
What if I said "if you can't make 200k a year and buy your own boat and live your own dream without depending on the sweat of others " then I feel sorry for you.?? But I guess your Walmart straight talk plan is almost maxed for data so I can understand the frustration.

Alright, mate...
May I ask you why you posted here where people can actually answer to your questions? It seems you're not interested in any answer.

Anyway, one last try!

How about you try to tell us what exactly you are planning on doing? Cruising but racing? 2 years? One year? Around the world?

If this is some sort of time sharing model, it could actually be attractive. Many people do this privately, to some extent successfully. Moorings does it professionally, and some other agencies offer this as a method of shared ownership or charter-financing.

If this is an idea of cramming 10 people on a boat at the same time, I'd say sayonara.

Please enlighten us
