Wonder what the thorny path is? anyhoo, I can be in Ft. LauderDale area Monday p.m. Mar. 4th.....no experience other than just completed Offshore Sailing basic keel and cruising course (Catalina 440). Can commit to Caribbean portion..SA is open to discussion.

Am a rookie, took the course, got the Teeshirt, ready to learn.

Captain I looked into this route for a delivery a couple years ago. I coundn't find much information on it then found out why. People just don't sail that way. Most reach S. America via Europe and a southern, westward trans-Atlantic. Sailing to S. America is no problem, but your intended route, east then south along the coast of South America, you'll be fighting the Gayana current and prevailing winds. You'll also have to cross the mouth of the Amazon river. That has turned many boats around on it's own. The boat I was going to deliver ended up going by truck.

Regardless, good luck and fair winds. It'd be a heck of an adventure!

I've never had experience but I have a great passion for the sea and learn quickly. Good hands, strong legs and have a great necessity to go to Brazil. I also know about primitive survival skills that I can share. yogibear713@live.com, let me know son
