Re: Ct to Florida

I wouldn't mind doing a CT-FL passage that time of year. I would gladly get myself to/from the boat and pay for my share of food, but there's absolutely no way I would contribute to fuel costs on a 67' yacht.

Have you crunched the numbers on fuel cost? It's going to cost *many* thousands of dollars to move that boat from Connecticut down to Florida.

Sharing fuel costs? On a 67' yacht? Hmmm...be careful,Federal law may consider that carrying passengers for hire which would mean big problems if it came to the attention of the USCG--and could void your insurance coverage as well-unless this is an inspected vessel and you are a licensed captain but it appears that a previous respondent got it right.

Re: Ct to Florida

Thanks for your input
And yes I did do a calculation and it acutely is end that bad around 8500$
For the whole trip
So if your looking at 3 to 4 thousand
For a stay on a 67 ft yacht and having 30 to 50 days on it it is actuely jot that bad
It's not completely about money
It's also finding a fun , good person

Re: Ct to Florida

Thanks for your analysis
With out knowing a person or asking questions , your one of those people after your response I wouldn't even have on my yacht even if you would pay for the whole trip
It's not about money it's a journey and a process to be together with the people you select . And you wouldn't be one of them

Re: Ct to Florida

You got that right! But I did try to offer you some helpful advice and somehow you got offended. You may wish to use spell check or otherwise brush up on your English skills, basic composition, paragraphs, actual sentences and periods at end of sentences. As one example, you wrote "And yes I did do a calculation and it acutely is end that bad around 8500$
For the whole trip"
Yes indeed. A process to be together with people you respect. I wish you well!

Re: Ct to Florida

Your post is unique in my experience and I am very curious what type boater would want to take advantage of your offer. Can you explain what kind of a person/crewman you expect to attract with this "opportunity?"

No disrespect intended but here are my numbers for your offer:

A friend operates an aluminum 65-foot Broward and reports 2 gallons per NM at 9 knots.

It is about 1,200 NM Newport, RI to Miami, FL on the ICW which is 2,400 gallons of fuel - or $8,500 with a volume discount.

Your family pays for 1/2 the fuel and two crew pay for the other half.

WHY would anyone pay approximately $2,100 (plus food) to ride along on someone else's boat?
