California to Hawaii 08

I will be looking for a few experienced sailors for a no pressure no time table crossing to Hilo Hawaii on an Ingrid 38 Ketch in July 08. Offshore experience would be nice but not a requirement.
Vessel is in San Leandro, Ca. A few weeks of housing will be provided at the end of the voyage.

Might be interested in this, but next July is a long way off so no way to tell what will happen in the meantime. Not much offshore experience - crewed in 03 Baja Haha, but aborted partway down, then Honolulu-Vancouver in 04.

Hello,

I would be interested in this cruise. July is a ways off, but it will be here quickly enough. Who knows, this email might mean a great summer trip!

Anyway, I've sailed quite a lot inland, and some offshore exp as a kid on my fathers Santana 20' I'm 35, mechanically oriented, and know how to sail. But not any real ofshore exp as an adult. Common sense goes a long way though. I build kayaks for a living.

I am dedicated to doing a lot of off shore crewing in the future.

I'd be highly interested in this.

I have about 10yrs or so experience sailing on the chesapake on numerous sailboats. I have 9yrs of Navy seamship if that counts

I know my way around a boat, responsible, mature..all that good stuff.

What is the normal time to sail from Cali to Hawaii?

Aloha Martin,
Still going to be July? That hard dodger looks like a great thing to hide behind. Keep us all informed.

Ocean Bound

Celestial Sailor. You are about to create an experience to mark in the apex of a lifetime. I will be traveling this winter through the Caribbean, along to Mexico, gaining experience on the open water, and then traversing over land to the west for a voyage to the islands. This timing is perfect.

Please consider me as a companion on this journey. I am a young adventurous pearl eager to sail on a 38 Ketch. This is my dream boat, and the world is your oyster. Thank you, and fair weather on your foresail, fellow traveler ~

I have no boating experience except that I've been on a boat, but really want to go to Hilo, Hawaii and am willing to learn/help in order to earn a ride there.

Let me know if this is at all a possibility, I'm a high school kid starting college.

Thank you panjandrum but I have experience crew going and we are leaving in 5 weeks. Hang in there, go to local marinas and beg for rides. Also if you can join a local sailing club.
