Crew Wanted: CA to Nicaragua

I am planning on relocating my steel Roberts 44 Offshore Cutter from the Bay area to Nicaragua, and start a crewed charter business down there.

I am looking for skipper and crew to help deliver the boat, some compensation is possible, and potentially somebody who wants to be the long term captain. In that case, bi lingual Spanish/English would be preferred.

The boat has a slip space waiting on Dec 1 at MarinaPS in Nicaragua. As you can see from their webpage it's a beautiful marina/resort with very low cost of living.

Also, if you are a captain/chef combo without a boat, this would be a great opportunity for you, as you can live on the boat when it is not chartered, and go run the charters when there are clients.

Quick update on this trip:

Thank you to everybody who has shown interest in this trip. My mailbox has been swamped. I am so grateful that there are so many qualified, nice people on this forum.

Instead of a ton of individual replies, here is a quick summary as to where this project stands.

I have selected a captain (with all the right licenses and experience), who will also be able to remain in Nicaragua as my long term charter captain.

We are probably pushing back the departure date to late this year, or early next year, due to work commitments on my part.

I will repost another call for crew when the date is firmed up. I would prefer to hear from people that have some experience and are willing to contribute to their share of the direct costs (food, beer, airfare). Given the response level I am not interested in crew that wish to get paid.

I will be emptying out my mailbox, so if you want to crew, send me a PM and I will add you to the list of "potentials".

The boat is coming along nicely. Much to my surprise, I bought it without even seeing it, it is in much better shape than I had hoped for. A full suite of electronics is being currently installed, and all survey issues will be addressed professional by a boat yard in California in the next 2 weeks. This boat is incredibly strong. The original owner was an engineer and he pretty much doubled the strength of any requirement. I was on a 42 foot production fiberglass boat last week and it looked and felt like Barbie's plastic boat compared to this vessel.
