Crew Available: Advice on sailing from Colombia to Costa Rica around July/August

Hi, I'm looking to help crew a sailing boat from Colombia to Cost Rica or Panama around July/August. I've heard that this is hurricane season but I'm not sure if it's further north or it includes all of the Caribbean. If someone could please confirm where and when the hurricane season is, so I know if it's possible to sail at that time of year. Thanks in advance!

Panama and Costa Rica are out of the zone. Just the northern part of Columbia gets an occasional one. FWIW There are no hurricanes on the equator or near it.

Very few hurricanes penetrate below about 10 degrees of latitude, so you are pretty much immune in Costa Rica or Panama, though you do get a lot of squally thunderstorm activity during the rainy season in July-August. You will encounter some of the most spectacular lightning you have ever seen, and plenty of rain. A lot of boats are hit by lightning down there during July-August.
