I am the original owner of a 1980 (hull # 4) wellington 44 in pristine condition....i just recently put it on the market to sell. If anyone has any questions about the wellington 44, I will be glad to answer them. It is the "perfect" cruising boat in my mind and has been the most comfortable and quality built boat I have ever been on.....it has full flotation and is fully equipped and ready to go sailing...

You can get all the information and pictures of the Wellington 44
"Bird of Paradise" on sailboatlistings.com. It is not in the advertised
section. You have to request Wellington 44's and my boat will
come up. I have lots of pictures and a pretty good description of
all the goodies on the boat. I ordered the boat new and have been
the only captain. I now have to sell it because of some health issues.

I hate to be the one to break your heart mate, but $179,000.00 is almost twice what that boat is actually worth.

Hmmmm.. He has 1 post and that is all he has to say. 2 possibilities:

1) He is a troll and gets his jollies being a jerk.
2) He has looked at the boat and trying to set the stage for negotiations.

There is only 1 other Wellington listed in yachtworld and it puts this boat's price right in line.

Neither.
I saw the listing and noted that that is just grossly overpriced for that boat.
example: One year younger, identical boat, ketch/cutter rigging, with the saniflush head at 125k, and I dare say 100 even would give her a new home.

Wellington 44 is an absolutely fantastic boat, fantastic. But you'd have to be nutter to pay almost $200K for a 31 year old boat.

Yachtworld has 2 listings that put the price in the range of others for sale. Check for yourself. The boat is listed in America and Florida specifically. At least one of the comps is also listed in Florida. Possibly the market is different down under.

And, you won't find a lot of friends on here if your purpose is to insult other members from your very first post.

Those would be inapplicable comps. There are three comps on yachtworld for this boat.
#1. Is an 85 year model 47 footer at an absurd price of almost 300K. He'd be lucky if that boat will survey out at 75 percent of that, while sail boats are across the board selling at about 75-ish percent of survey in this market. At 280 thousand dollars, he'll own that boat until the second coming.

#2. Is this very same boat and listing, therefore not a comp.

#3. is the Tropical Spice listing I linked to earlier.

And telling someone they're asking way too much money, while it may sting the pride a bit, is no insult.
