21-foot Sea Pearl sailboat Thurston, with 2HP
Honda outboard motor. It can be sailed as an open day-sailor or, by adding a sealed
cabin (as in photo), as a capsize-proof cruiser with camping accommodations for one or two. It is a
ketch with free-standing masts and easily-reefed
sails. Built of foam-core
fiberglass in 1985 by
Marine Concepts in
Florida, this model is popular in shallow waters because it only draws nine inches with leeboards and
rudder drawn up. She features a sliding-seat rowing station,
solar panel, and awning to escape from sun or rain. In good condition.
In Virgin Islands but can be delivered to Florida or other U.S. locations for a fee. $7000 US.
From 2009 to 2014 Steve Ladd and wife Ginny (in photo) sailed Thurston from Florida to
Argentina via coastlines and rivers. Their travels are documented in the magazine Small Craft Advisor. They had a son in
Brazil so Steve is sailing her back to the U.S. by himself. He would like to sell the
boat to be reunited with his
family.
