Small and Light Gift Items for Pacific Islanders

We are extensively cruising in the remote atolls of the North Pacific. We just come back from 4 months in 7 atolls here in the Marshall Islands (did not meet any other cruiser!) and are often asked for small things islanders can use and have a tough time getting!

If you have any small and light stuff (we can only carry so much!) that islanders might appreciate and you would like to give to them, please let me know!

Often we are asked for fishing accessories (line, hooks, swivels, crimps, tools, ...), DVD with any movies (fiction or documentary - we like to avoid giving them bad influences movies!), small perfumes & shampoo samples for the ladies, sewing kits, also seeds to grow vegetables or fruit trees ...
and you might have other ideas ...

Now that we are in Majuro with a US Post Office nearby, I would be happy to pay the cost of shipping by USPS to me here in the Marshall islands (part of US Postal System ) I would also be happy to send you stuff I might have (documentary videos, ...)

Thanks for them!

Luc

Re: Small and Light Gift Items for Pacific Islanders

We had a great time donating reading glasses and also old prescription glasses for islanders in the SW Caribbean - San Blas Islands. No one had reading glasses & most had trouble seeing close. We had wooden cayucos mobbing our boat for reading glasses, or as they said "lensses"????

They're light, inexpensive and we had alot donated as well as took a bunch from the dollar store.

Much better than candy or toys!

Yes, we did give some prescription glasses too ... but we got many people asking us for aspirine during our last cruise as the small clinics were out of them!

Re: Small and Light Gift Items for Pacific Islanders

Hello all,

If you had a chance to prepare some stuff to send me to give in the North pacific islands ... I am planning to leave Majuro in about 3 weeks ... takes about 2 weeks for Priority Mail to get here.
Or I have stuff that will go by ocean freight from California in about 2 weeks also ,,,

Please let me know and I can give you more details ... also can I pay you via Paypal or by check for the shipping?

Have a good day!

Re: Small and Light Gift Items for Pacific Islanders

PM me with an address to send some stuff to. You can pp me $15 for a priority large box, but we'll take care of that later, as I want you to get this stuff before you leave. I've got 11 pairs of reading glasses, a bunch of extra fishing hooks, lures, etc., and I'll throw in whatever hotel shampoos, conditioners, etc. we have, and maybe a couple beanie babies or something similar for the kids. What a cool idea, and what an honor to be a part of something like this!

Re: Small and Light Gift Items for Pacific Islanders

Hi there,

That would be great ... so many simple things can really help out in the outer-islands Since everything can fit in a USPS flat rate box, you could send it here directly:
SLOEPMOUCHE Yacht in transit
Luc Callebaut
General Delivery
Majuro, MH 96960

Republic of the Marshall Islands

Phone: (692) 455-3737
===
If it is too heavy/bulky or too expensive to ship via USPS then it might be better sent via UPS to my freight forwarder in California ... I have some things coming by ocean freight soon ...

Luc Callebaut SLOEPMOUCHE Yacht in transit
c/o TRIPLE B FORWARDERS
2992 Alvarado Street Unit N
San Leandro CA 94577

Shipper's Phone: 510-346-0702
Fax: 510-346-0706

Please, let me know what the shipping cost are and how I can pay you the shipping costs ... by Paypal .. check in the mail from my US bank?

Thanks in advance from the islanders!

We cruisers ... can have a positive impact and leave a clean wake )

PS: I made a few videos on the Marshall atolls I visited earlier this year .. you can watch them at sloepmouche's Channel - YouTube

My in-laws took garbage bags full of t-shirts / shorts etc that they got for nothing, or next to nothing, from charity shops. Tehy stowed them up in the forepeak, and managed to cram hundreds in!

When I was in Bali years ago the kids really needed Pencils and empty books to do school work in,

The pencils were the greatest need as you can write on anything with a pencil,
