My educated guess is that he thinks it is a great deal, ie. it's really cheap! And why not find a similar small boat on a trailer in Minnesota? According to 2010 NMMA statistics....read on:
  1. Florida: 914,535 registered boats in 2010. Florida held the number one spot for total boat registrations, decreasing 3.6 percent from 2009’s 949,030.
  2. Minnesota: 813,976 registered boats in 2010. Minnesota moved from third to second for boat registrations, increasing 0.3 percent from 2009’s 811.775
Perhaps the OP will provide us with a link to this boat for sale on a trailer and we can offer informed opinions.
I am blown away by those statistics. I'm not surprised but Minnesota number 2 is shocking. There must be a lot of used boats for sale there.

Re: Sailboat Survey in Sarasota FL.

I have heard that the cruising community was a kind and helpful lot... I've been an electrician for 30 yrs and have retired recently and will be moving in the future. It's the type of sailboat I am looking for, and I found it in Sarasota, I would have purchased it anywhere in the country. I was asking for a reasonably priced surveyor. I have received good advice on here and am thankful for that . My dream has just begun. Be happy for me...

I hope you are aware that a boat out of water for a period of time will lose blisters even if it had a bad case, they then return after it is in the water.

We all are & wish you the best. It's just that sometimes the lure of cruising can result in the inexperienced getting in over their heads. It's amazing how cheap you can buy a big sailboat these days but the costs of owning the boat, which can be immense, are often not apparent to the buyer until after the purchase. I've looked at hundreds of boats & I can tell you from experience that boats always look better in pictures than they do in person. Do not buy a boat without inspecting it in person.

Re: Sailboat Survey in Sarasota FL.

Thanks Dehler 25 that is what I understand. I have a surveyor there today so we will see what happens. They have been in the business for over 100 year.
