Want To Buy: Sailboat in Langkawi

My husband is in Langkawi, Malaysia until 2 Aug looking to buy a sailboat to sail towards India on a humanitarian mission. Any tips or advice on finding a boat are appreciated as I try to help him in this search via my laptop in the U.S. He is hoping to begin this journey before the end of 2014.

Without checking what's available I'd be guessing that he's run out of time to a) find a boat and b) get it ready by the end of the year.

If he has found a boat it's now a moot point. If he has not now might be a good time to step back, consider what is available and to check out available repair/maintenance options - it would be almost impossible to find a boat that did not require substantial repair/upgrade etc.

Price negotiation alone could likely take more than a few months unless money is not a concern.

Why Langkawi only? My understanding is that there are more boats available in Phuket which is not that far away.

Try Pippen Marine,Yacht Charter-Broker and theres a broker working from Rebak which I think is called Langkawi Yacht Sales.
Another good site is Boatshed Phuket and Apollo Duck have heaps of listings for the area.
