Unfortunately, the tag on the side just gives a serial number. Do you have any idea how to read this?

I purchased this unit as a spare for my other linear drive. With the extreme reliability of these units, I have not needed to use this one, and it's time to sell it off. I bought this used and have tested it this week... it works just fine.

Can these be adapted to work on a tiller steered boat? I'm looking for a beefy alternative to the cheapo tiller autopilots available.

If you had an exposed rudder shaft, I think you could make it work. Unfortunately, these below deck units are not waterproof like a tiller pilot is and would have to be mounted below somewhere. Also, you wouldn't be able to use a tiller pilots control head with this linear drive.... they require too much juice.
