I like to have a spare drive belt #A18083 for Raymarine Evolution EV-1 ... that is the belt that fit in the grey housing (not black).

Thank you for that ... I did find it at Defender and found it on Amazon 10$ less than on Ebay. But I find it is a lot of money just for a belt so perhaps someone has one laying around for an autopilot he no longer has ... One can hope!

Take your belt to a bearing supply specialist. Those cog belts are used in a variety of industrial applications.

I used vbeltsupply dot com for a similar belt. Very reasonable

Look at the numbers on the belt and then put those in as a search on the net. It is a standard industrial belt. I bought 5 that way for 1/4 the price of getting one as a 'marine spare'

The Raymarine version (at least the ones I went through) were steel reinforced. If you can get to the bearing shop, see if they can find the Kevlar reinforced version. I went through 2 or three of the Raymarine version before I got smart, it's been years and I'm still on the original of the Kevlar versions. If I can get down to the boat I'll see if I can find the part #, but it was pretty standard at the bearing shop.

Thanks for these details ... that would be great if you can tell me the part# as I just installed the new autopilot and I rather not taking the helm part apart just to see the belt number inside (plus that would be the original steel reinforced). I agree with you that getting the Kevlar version would be better.

The belt on my old Autohelm ST3000 lasted forever but it would be dumb to not have a spare in case it breaks on a long passage! In fact, I probably will try to buy a spare used autopilot ... just in case. Generally just by having spare parts, you will never need them
