It is with a sad heart that we reluctantly offer our home and world cruising catamaran the s/v Wendy Ellen up for sale. We have a new crew member (baby) coming in July we're ready for a break from the long crossings with bub (we’ve done it once already!).

Someone is going to have the great fortune of walking into a ready-to-sail-around-the-world, turn-key, blue-water, cruising boat. I mean she’s ready to go. We sailed her from Mexico and were on our way west to Vanuatu and then onto Indo and S. E. Asia.

Everything is there. Ready for a couple or family. All cookware, great stainless steel pots and pans and the worlds greatest pressure cooker. Plus all the extras, spares and tools needed. Just show up with a pair of boardies (though we rarely even wore any) and hoist the anchor!

The s/v Wendy Ellen is a British made Prout Event 34 built in 1990. Well known around the world Prout was the first company to produce fiberglass blue water cats back in 1945. They’ve held a sterling reputation for safety since then and many Prouts have circumnavigated and wrote about it including ‘A Sailing Promise’ which inspired the Bumfuzzles to buy a cat and sail around the world.

There are swim steps on each hull stern leading to a spacious solid aft deck. The cockpit is large and has bench seats all around plus a collapsing wooden dinner table. There is a solid dodger with glass windows and a full shade bimini that covers the entire cockpit area.

A wooden door opens into the roomy main salon which is as wide as the entire fly bridge due to the lack of for/aft bulkheads. In the main salon are two settee bench seats with custom cushions (recently upholstered). The forward part of the salon has been converted into the awesome Parents Stateroom with a thousand dollar memory foam latex Queen size mattress and storage areas.

Three short steps lead to into each hull. To starboard is the surprisingly spacious galley with plenty of counter space, a single basin sink (pressure water and foot pump), a three burner gas range and a separate wall mounted oven and grill (plenty of fresh bread!). To the fore and aft of the starboard hull are fore and aft double berths (the forward berth is more like a 1 1/2 but we’ve had plenty of couple sleep in there!). Also the full chest style fridge and separate freezer are in the aft starboard berth.

To port, there is the nav station and good counter space, with another double berth aft and a huge head forward with a manual pump Jabsco, sink with pressure water, mirror, cupboard and heaps of storage (like tons).

All three hull berths have a hanging locker, drawers and shelves plus a small table surface, mirror, light and heaps of extra storage nooks. They all have a closing and locking wooden door.
The foredeck is also solid so plenty of extra chill out space for a deck chair or yoga etc.

She is currently registered as an Australian Ship. She has not been imported to Australia. It was our intention to continue west without import.

There is also a hardwired Xantrex 1500 watt inverter with U. S. Power (120v 60htz) from when we were in Mexico. Included is various powertools and vacuum that run off the inverter.

There are 2 x battery switches and an electric battery isolator for better charging.

The engine has 1 x 85amp alternator (and a brand new spare). Electronics
Navigation Garmin GPSMap 276C color GPS/chart plotter (cockpit mounted and connected to autopilot). Garmin 76C color handheld GPS (can connect to autopilot as back-up and to laptop running nav software).

Autohelm ST-50 series depth sounder, wind meter (needs repair), VMG monitor, speed (currently paddlewheel removed, have spare also), ST-7000 autopilot running hydraulic ram (full hydraulic steering).

Standard Horizon VHF and AIS (hooks up to laptop running nav software). Yaesu SSB/HAM radio with hull mounted ground dynoplate. 2 x handheld VHF radios for going to shore. Raytheon R10X radar (needs controller replaced - have the part). Sail Inventory 2 x full genoa (one in fair condition, one in excellent condition). 1 x head sail in excellent condition. 1 x fully battened mainsail in good condition. 1 x light-air head sail (wire luff). 1 x full asym spinnaker. Fore stay has a Hood continuous loop style roller furling. Mast / Rigging Alloy mast with folding mast steps. All new stainless steel 7mm 1:19 wire standing rigging in 2011/12 with new Staylock fittings and new chromed bronze turnbuckles. Large stainless steel chain plates attach to outside of hulls for no leaks!

Boat includes a new bosuns chair. Deck Gear Running rigging in good condition. The boat has all sheets and halyards including spinnaker and light-air sails etc. Plenty of extra line and sheets for back-up/replacement. Davits with 2 x 3:1 blocks to raise dinghy from the arch. 2 x 2-speed self tailing sheet winches and 1 x mast winch. Remarks A Prout has a remarkable rig designed for safety. The mast is very far aft so all line and halyard work can be done from the cockpit. No need to go forward under sail at all (accept to set up the kite).

There is a beautiful polished weld arch added a few years ago ($6000US!) with solar panels and davits for the dinghy.

There is one of the berths currently used as a tool room with every tool and spare part that you will need all organised into tubs, drawers and lockers.

This is an excellent family catamaran for people who want to go blue water cruising. Everything is ready to go. This is a heavy, kind of slow, very safe boat. This is not a fast modern million dollar catamaran. We love her and have sailed 10,000 miles in her so far. Someone is going to get a great boat for a great price
