North Channel Michigan

My husband and I are doing our first boat trip in our 24' bowrider this summer and as it is a bow rider I am looking to plan ahead with hotel/motels. Any suggestions on places to stay? We are hoping to have lodging from Tobermory to Killareny and are travelling with a toddler so probably trying to camp in the bow isn't very practical. Any suggestions are very much appreciated!

Check "active captain". There is a facebook page and a web site. There is info there re No. Channel. Two places to stay in Killarney, Sportsmans lodge and Killarney Mountain Lodge. Active Captain is free and has lots of info.

As Zoe says, the Killarney Mountain Lodge and the Sportsman are great places to stay. Tobermory to Killarney is about 45 nautical miles and you are in relatively open water for most of it so watch your weather. If you have an iPad, you can download the Garmin Blue Chart app for free and buy the charts for the U.S. east coast for about $45.00. This will give you the Canadian Hydrographic charts for this area as well of as all of the NOAA charts you will need. They also have an interface with Active Captain that will provide a wealth of info. Do a Google search for Environment Canada Marine Weather to get the web site for weather reporting in this area. There are a few spots between Tobermory and Killarney where you can duck into to get out of the weather, but not very many. Be safe and enjoy the trip. Try to get up into Baie Fin and the pool, then hike up to Topaz Lake.

By the way, it is the North Channel of Lake Huron, not Michigan.
