I've been in Sailorman many times and yet have to see a bargain there. Much of their used stuff is priced the same as new. Just to make sure of my impression of their pricing I just did a small check - they wanted $95 for a used 44# claw anchor that can be had new at many marine stores for about $100. When you walk around the store it's easy to get the impression that you're getting a deal but make sure you know the normal retail price of an item before you buy a "bargain". If you're seriously looking for stuff at used marine places it's a good idea to take a couple of catalogs from large retail outfits with you so that you can make a quick price check.

As for chain here's where I get mine. BBB* Windlass Anchor Chain

It's more economical to get half a drum (275' $3.31 per foot, free freight) so try and find another boat to share the purchase with.

As noted, know your prices, and be willing to negotiate at Sailorman.

And if you’re in the Chicago area (Lowell, In), stop in and see 1st Chain Supply, they’re very knowledgeable & helpful folks

Otherwise, GotoTechnical Information

or click on “Reference” at Chain, Chain Supplies, Binder Chains, Lifting Slings and Hooks.
