Re: Mariner 40 1966 wooden ketch

Re: Mariner 40 1966 wooden ketch

Be kind of interestin' if the new owner kept up the thread and we could (hopefully) follow the progress of the vessel from its near demise, to new and better glory days.

Re: Mariner 40 1966 wooden ketch

I would be curious also. Maybe some of us can lend a hand...our orphan boat.

I don't think you guys understand understatement. If the boat was going to the glue factory or to a new owner, maybe we should respect the wishes of whomever...

Re: Mariner 40 1966 wooden ketch

No way to twist the arm of the hoist people, then make her environmentally safe (and be safe yourselves) and give her up to the deep. There are too many boats in the world, and this one is an unknown below the water line.
If they'd haul her in Avalon, I'd take her on... but it's not worth the risk and expense, IMO, to try to get her back on the hard across 26+ miles of ocean when we don't really know what's going on with her below.

Re: Mariner 40 1966 wooden ketch

bloodey hell fix the leak. She isn't leaking so bad that pumping her ever so often keeps her up. Might try an inverted can with dry sawdust you shake it about where you think she is leaking . Old yard trick from days of wooden boats. You could even jump over the side and take a look.

Ben, that's great news! Paperwork done then, and someone with the funds to get her safe and sound?
