Looking for a Project Boat

I'm new to this forum and looking for some help...
I'm an avid sailor, I have a Hunter 260 and sail Barnegat Bay in New Jersey.
I'm also a self employed custom cabinet maker & woodworker...
I have a buddy/partner and together we're looking for a larger "project boat" to refurbish and ultimately launch and sail her.
We're thinking mid 30's or larger...

A few considerations....
1. We'd like to start with a desireable shell, after all, a pig in an evening gown is still a pig. Any thoughts on boat builders and/or models?
2. I don't want a wooden boat, a fiberglass hull is a must and the hull can't have issues.
3. Obviously price, we don't want to spend a lot to start out as we'll be doing that on the other end.
4. Distance is a consideration, a boat on the west coast won't work...

Can anyone offer any help?
Thanks, feel free to call me at 732-614-5535
Jeff

I would ask what size boat you want (35',40',45') and how much you can spend.

Depends on the boat, I'd do up to a 45 if I could find a deal.
As for dollars, less than 50K to be sure, less than 10k would be better.

Check out "Boat Angel" in your area. People donate boats of all sizes which they sell off ( usually on eBay) "as is". They may have some good prospects for you.

Re: Looking for a Project Boat

dayummm.. there is a ct41 in mazatlan ffor 1600 dollars. needs decks. hull perfect. has some extras...... might become a project boat for me if i decide to partner with a friend, thus prolonging my stay here, as i strip and fix....... the hull , after stripping, will be disposed of, so purchasing as a project boat would save her life.

Re: Looking for a Project Boat

I just saw a Corbin 39 (project) advertized on Sailnet. I think it was in the NE, $24k if I remember correctly.
Thanks
