Re: Lewmar windlass motor

Lewmar sells replacement motors and you can get them through Defender or many other Lewmar distributors.

Re: Lewmar windlass motor

It seems I have the same combination. However my one looks much better. I like to service the unit and have asked Lewmar about a manual and spare parts (type of oil, gaskets, etc). The answer I have receive was that this is a boxed unit and ther are no spare enither a manual.
If you have other information it would be nice if you could share them with me.

Regards,
Matthais

Re: Lewmar windlass motor

Well, it does look like the motor and gearbox are a single unit for that one. A replacement is available, but it costs a lot of money.

Re: Lewmar windlass motor

Jack,
If it works you might just wire brush the case, treat it with phosphoric acid, coat it with grease and carry on.

Yes I am still looking for this motor.

Thanks fir the info;; I have talked with lawmar 1000$ for the gear box and motor. They do not sell just the motor. I have found a very similar anchor lift motor and gear box for 450$ but not 100% sure if it will work.
I wanted to just clean and epoxy the out side but the inside is rusting as well. I would take out the guts but the screws are completely rusted away. I want to fix it right now because finding this while out cruising will be very expensive if possible.

As for service there is not much to service. Keep it covered in grease and separate the above and below deck section. As it is common for the 1 inch shaft to get water around it and freeze the two part together.
