Lewmar 43 Ocean winches (self tailing)

I've got a pair of Lewmar Ocean series self tailing winches size 43 for sale. They are in excellent condition. They came off a Morgan 43 but were undersized for the boat. I upgraded to 55's which is why they are for sale. They were serviced recently.

I'm asking $700 + shipping for the pair. I'm located on the Chesapeake Bay just north of Baltimore. If you're in that area I'd be happy to meet half way.

These are off a 1985 Morgan, 30 years old?

Lewmar 43 Ocean winches (self tailing)

That's correct. They are actually the Lewmar Wavegrip models of two speed self tailing winches. The Wavegrip models were made from 1983-1991.

I have to be honest with you, they don't look in excellent condition. The chrome is totally gone on the one drum. Will you take 500 for them?

I believe the price I'm asking is a fair price. Can you direct me to an example of comparable winches near that price? The drum, where the sheet wraps around is in excellent condition. Internally they appear to be in excellent condition. I'd be happy to strip them down and post pictures. Their ability to perform the task they were built for, efficiently and reliably, is what matters and they do that well.

Re: Lewmar 43 Ocean winches (self tailing)

Can you tell me the base circumference? I have Lewmar 42 standard winches with a 6 inch base and a 5 hole pattern. My base attachment is a stainless plate so I can't easily expand the area. I would like to know if these will bolt on without modification to the stainless base.

Re: Lewmar 43 Ocean winches (self tailing)

I traced the base (6 1/8") and scanned it with the bolt hole layout. If you print it out it should print to scale.

Re: Lewmar 43 Ocean winches (self tailing)

Too bad, this is close but I would still have to get the base plate revised so I just as well use the 46STs that I have to replace my 42s.

Thanks for your reply.
