Land Boat For Sale

Some on here may remember last fall when I built a custom RV for us to live in on land while figuring out a few things in life.

Well, we found we are "water bound" now. The "land boat" or custom RV is up for sale. (Pictures attached)

Here's what she is:

2002 Ford E350 Gasoline Powered RV with Morgan Box (approx 80K miles? - will check)

*Fleet Maintained Vehicle all the way up to when we purchased her out of fleet service

*New front tires
*Passes state inspection
*No rust - was from Oklahoma
*16' x 8' Living Area, plus cockpit for driving
*2007 Norcold Upright Refrigerator/Freezer (propane, AC, DC)
*2007 3 burner range/oven (propane)
*2007 Troy-Built 5.5KW Gasoline Genset with control panel run into living area
*2007 (qty 4) Trojan T-105 batteries - barely used at all
*2007 Iota 90 Amp Charger
*2007 2500 watt (2.5 KW) modified sine wave inverter
*2007 Microwave Oven
*2007 Large, stainless galley sink and new faucet
*2007 Dickenson Lofoten Diesel Heater
*2007 Shur-Flo Fresh water pump and pressure water system (all new)
*2007 Link 10 Battery monitoring system
*2007 6 gallon Propane professionally mounted outside living area, protected from collision
*2007 Halogen Lighting with Frilight Dimmer Switch system
*No-profile skylight (more can easily be added for extra light)
*2007 Cabinets, bunk bed/futon
*Ample hooks for hanging jackets, clothing, bicycles inside
*Dresser of drawers

*1/2 Inch insulation throughout

**NO LEAKS - perfectly dry in the worst storms
**Remains well under GRVW - drives better than most RVs of the same size
**No CDL required, and does not need to stop at any weigh stations, as it is not a commercial vehicle.

The "land boat" was set up to be an "urban RV" allowing you to camp/anchor anywhere, in any area. From the outside, it is indistinguishable from a normal delivery truck. "Anchoring" out in various parking lots for over half a year, we never once were asked to move, looked at, or ticketed in any way. We looked like a truck parked on "official business."

The RV can be used this way, or used as a mobile hunting, fishing or skiing lodge. We took it on a trip up to the mountains for a couple weeks of skiing last winter and had a BLAST! We just parked it right in the ski area parking lots. With the diesel heater on, we stayed toasty warm and were the first ones out skiing after a relaxing breakfast.

We are selling the "land boat" because we have decided that the water (and specifically our new Catalac) is the right home for us.

If you are interested in purchasing the "land boat", let me know soon. I'll be posting it up on some RV sites soon. It's a very unique vehicle that allows one to spend next to nothing per month to live and work on land. That is what I designed it for.

No campground fees, no nothing. Blends right into suburbia.

Might be good for someone who wants to have a place to stay on land in addition to their liveaboard boat.

Price expectation is around $15K (cost close to $20K in materials and truck alone)

ps ...a brilliant idea the incognito truck...

I can think of a few "advertising banners" on the side that may well make life even quieter... : )

Presently, there isn't a shower (we showered at marinas! ha ha).

There is space to put one in, however. I could put one in for a buyer, depending on their needs.

I am quite impressed -though not in the market for land-boat at the moment. I am thinking about a boat with an above waterline form in the shape of a rock... do you think the harbor master would take notice?

Hey David I was thinking the same thing. If she can put up with Seans crazy way of life, she is special.

Crazy? yeah, but in my book good crazy = "cool" .....but for me it is not the actual living in a box van (IMO a great idea) that tops it all, but simply being able to put the proposal to the Missus

I am sure that most fellas reading this thread have mentally played out that conversation with their own Missus . With no doubt mixed results...........
