I was under the impression one made a JSD, or had one made by a sailmaker. I didn't know you could buy them off the shelf, so to speak.

I'm not entirely sure I'd like that, actually. I'd want it sized via experimentation on my own boat.

Via experimentation? This is last ditch survival gear. If you read the designer's reports you'll see he did extensive testing in wave tanks and in the real world.

Buying a kit would be a lot chapter than having your sailmaker make it, I think
