Icom 710 RT Connection Cable

I bought on this forum an ICOM 710 RT SSB HF radio, it's the model with the remote panel (as in the M802)
Unfortunately the cable connecting the panel to the remote transmitter is missing.
We talked to Icom on Friday. They don’t have it in stock, nor they can fabricate one (they don’t have connectors available). They can’t test it without the cable.

Anyone having this kind of cable and wanting to sale?

Thank you

Alec

Re: Icom 710 RT Connection Cable

The separation cable is just a simple coax cable with BNC connectors at each end.

The Icom part number is OPC-771 for the 15ft version and OPC-772 for the 60ft version.

Here's a 15' one on eBay which will probably work just fine:

NEW 15FT BNC to BNC RG58 Coaxial Cable UL fully molded | eBay

For what I see of the plugs they are not coaxial.
I'm talking here of the cable between the remote panel and the transmitter in the M710 RT.
Icom told me they don't produce the connectors anymore, so they are not talking about simple coaxial.
What do you think?

Re: Icom 710 RT Connection Cable

It is my understanding that the cable is a fiber optical cable. I looked at buying a RT 710 with out a control head, Too much hassle however for what it is worth I found a head and parts at ICOM new Zealand. The Head was obsolete according to them and they offered it to me for $300. I would try them via email, as it could easily be mailed.

I am told the RT710 is a great radio.

Re: Icom 710 RT Connection Cable

It's a simple coax cable with BNC connectors at each end.

Fiberoptic cable was used in the M800, not the M710RT insofar as I know. And, the fiberoptic cable is no longer available.

I've had several M710RTs thru here, and have a defective one sitting on my shelf right now.

Yes, the M710RT was a good radio, but I've seen several which developed the dreaded "Error" message. When that happens, it's all over. Two Icom service centers have told me it's a bad microprocessor, and the replacements are not available.
