We bought phone used and have used it in the Bahamas the last 3 years. Have sold our boat and no longer need. I don't know when it was new but in excellent condition and works great.

You can set up direct through Globalstar. I've used Globalstar since 1999. Service is good now.

How good is "good now"? Have the launched their new satellites? Can you communicate at any time of the day?

After 10 years of cruising, we sold our boat and have lots of stuff for sale. Lots of it brand new if anyone interested.
