The dockside shot was taken in a little
canal off the Okeechobee Waterway where we rented a
dock space while replacing some
rigging on the
boat. Somehow the
roller furler had been damaged somewhere in her
history before we bought her, and the spar had several kinks in it, the bearings were getting stiff, and we decided to replace the whole thing and the forestay before heading to the
Caribbean. It was a good move as I find that usually when something like that fails is the middle of the night during a sudden blow and you discover you can't get the
jib in--we had a lot of those squalls in the southwest
Caribbean.
