Family cruiser for 100 k ...

Or am I dreaming? Looking to sail to Pacific islands and base it in NZ.
I could wait another year or two and save another 50K but then...
Kids aged 10 and 12 ( boy and girl). Want to sail 6mths on 6 mths off from NZ

Easy...get out ASAP before the kids get much older....don't wait. $100k gets you a nice monohull and get going!

The Ebay IP does look cruise ready but heck spend $50k on the boat and then that gives you plenty of gear buying money and cruising money for a year at least of full-time cruising...I could get 2 years out of $50k!n!

I know of a heavily upgraded 41' monohull well under 100k, but it's in the Caribbean.

Had you considered buying the boat in NZ? Your US dollar will go farther. Some very nice boats there. Just a thought.

How will you handle the kids' schooling?

Have you checked with NZ immigration that you will be able to spend 6 mo in and out repeatedly?

Ann

Hi, I have a Nonsuch 30 for sale for half your budget here on Vancouver Island. Great roomy and easy to sail family cruiser. Advantages: you save lots of money , you can go cruising sooner and much longer. The boat has a new engine, rock solid hull and sails great!
