Hi, from another ND
Offshore 40 owner. My wife, Donna and I have been refurbing our
Offshore 40 for a few years now. We are trying to get the boat back in the
water asap. Currently changing the stand-up chart table into a sit down forward facing one. Have re-done the aft
cabin, removing the veneer off the inside of the transom, re-staining the ash
wood strips along the
hull sides, adding
insulation behind.
Removed, bladder tank and installed waste tank in hanging locker next to
head. Removed all ballast and concrete mixture and replaced with solid lead. Re-painted
engine, re-wired
engine room, led lighted entire boat. Installed new ac units fore and aft.
The list goes on and on.
Before this we had a
Morgan Out Island 41, but we did not care for the poor close quarters manuverability. We have not had this boat in the
water yet. We are very curious as to the handling and seakeeping manners the boat will have. How have you found your boat to be? Donna and I would love to be able to see your boat upclose sometime before you set off.
We have our boat in our backyard in Orlando for the re-furb and will be going into a marina on the
east coast as soon as we can finish up. You can e-mail us at
patadon@cfl.rr.com
We wish you luck in gettin out there, as we too are almost empty nesters.
Best Wishes, Pat and Donna -
Emmanuel (1985 ND Offshore 40)
