We have decided to spend one last summer cruising on Dora Mac and what a cruise we have planned. We will depart the UK for Vlissingen, Netherlands on May 3rd. We will then remove our mast and fabricate a cradle for it and our paravane poles. This will allow us to transit the rivers and canals through Eastern Europe to the Black Sea.
With the mast and paravane poles lowered, our air draft is just 4.6 meters or about 15 feet. The lowest bridge on the trip will be 6.8 meters or about 22 feet at Novi Sad, Serbia. Our passage will include the Rhine River, Main River, canals over the mountains, Danube, River, to the Black Sea. We will transit more than 60 locks. Dora Mac will reach an altitude of over 1,300 feet.
From there we will go through the Bosphorus Strait to the Sea of Marmara, the Dardanelles Strait to the Aegean Sea, and onto the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. We will arrive back in Turkey by September where we will have the boat hauled for a bottom job and other maintenance.
The passage from the North Sea to the Black Sea is 3,900 Kilometers and from the Black Sea to Turkey will be an additional 625 NM.

We have completed the Rhine and Main Rivers and Tuesday we will move the boat 67 km to Nuremburg through the canals.
We have been in Germany since May 18 and I don't think all the trash I have seen on all the streets in all the cities we have visited would fill a shoe box. It is the cleanest country I have ever seen and not because they pick it up, its because they don't throw it down.
We have been given nothing but the warmest of welcomes everywhere we have been and the harbormaster here in Trosdorf would give us the shirt off his back if he thought we could use it.
