Well! What a miserable pack of buggers they turned out to be. They told me to sod off and then banned me. But I shall teach them, I will ask for a free bulldozer on the agricultural forum and then run over all of their glorified VW's.
Coops.

Can someone donate $55,000,000 dollars to me? I will make good use of every single one. I will send you postcards and holiday gifts from my travels and name the first born after you.

Sheesh folks ... This is not an unreasonable request. Are we grumpy that we did not think of it? What if they get a boat? Don't hate - appreciate
I have my old cruising boat languishing in California. Unable to find a buyer because they are put off by the lack of pretty paint and a few ports leaking. Now I'm looking at a haulout for antifoul and a year's slip fee ... Maybe $10,000 for a boat that might sell someday for $15,000.
And the point is she is ready to go. Given an antifoul I'd sail her anywhere after only a week's work of little chores. Mexico, Philippines, no problem.
I considered giving her away.. But think I can clear a bit of cash. But it's close

Re: Cruising Sailboat
Sorry Still sounds like a sponger. Like going around during the Black Death, poking people with sticks to see if they are dead. Or walking up to a nice house and asking the occupants if they want to give it away. "Me and my wonderful family would just love to be in your house can we have it?" It would be a wonderful opportunity for us as you are screwed".
What an attitude. Self-centered is not the word I am looking for. More like Sod-of Sunny!!!!

Re: Cruising Sailboat
Note to person giving boat away
as long as you're in a charitable mood, would you mind removing the watermaker, davits, maxwell windlass, and caribe rib with 10hp yammie and sending them to me? i don't think it's fair for the OP to get all the goodies...

Re: Cruising Sailboat
actually kind of reminds me of the gold buying scam. you've seen them, 'we buy gold' on sidewalks and sandwich boards, radio and tv and newspaper ads, and you think they're paying you for the gold content at the current london gold price.
but they're not. what they're really doing is buying gold and selling jewelry. in case you hadn't noticed, jewelry sells at well above the price of gold. so they give you forty bucks for your old wedding ring and put it in the window of their jewelry shop down the street for three hundred bucks.
so here's a new take. beg a boat, clean it up, and put it on the market under priced. do a couple of boats a year and who needs a steady job? maybe even live on it while you're cleaning it up!
