Here's how I see it playing out:
- Boat owner offers boat to requestor
- Requestor gladly accepts quickly
- IRS taxes the value of the "gift"
- Requestor goes broke trying to pay the taxes on the "free" boat
- IRS finally siezes the boat and all the requestor's other property upon failure to pay the full amount due

LOL ... but unfortunately gift taxes are due from the one making the gift, i.e. the boat owner.

Re: Cruising Sailboat
Can't help it.Have read the post and response's.I,completely understand the request for a free boat .We are dealing with the Give Me Generation. The freebies being passed out by Goverment's has trickled down for year's to where people think just because they are alive they should have it all "Now"without paying a price.
When I,was still in business I,stood up for the son of one of my employe's in court. He got probation instead of jail time as part of the deal I,was to employee him for a year.He soon was called GIVE ME _____.
After 40 year's of working I,could not deal with the new generation of Give Me's any more. Now refurbishing a boat is costing me a bunch.ANYBODY got a hot water heater mine just sprung a leak.LOL

Re: Cruising Sailboat
OK, I don't imagine that anyone here is going to make the OP the offer he wants on account of having sent him running with his tail between his legs.
But, hey, if you're coming in late and have a yacht you'd like to give away for free, send me a PM and I'll see what I can do to help find a home. Perhaps I could swap it for a three legged dog?
